May 2011: This year we awarded a $750 scholarship to Christian Contreras in Memory of deceased Arvin High School Alumnus John 'Jock' Nicodemus of the Arvin High School Class of 1971. Christian is currently attending college in San Francisco and making good progress toward his bachelor's degree.
January 2011: The SilverTips Alumni Network has decided to award it's own academic scholarships going forward. In May of 2011 The SilverTips Alumni Network will be awarding a scholarship for at least $600 in Memory of an Arvin High School alumnus or alumna. May 2010: The Arvin High School Alumni Association awarded a $400 scholarship last week in Memory of Daryl Bradshaw at the annual Arvin High School Senior Awards night held at Jack O. Schulze Auditorium.
October 2009: The SilverTips Alumni Network sponsored a 'Scholarship Team' in the Arvin High School Alumni Association's 8th Annual Alumni Golf Tournament. This entitled the SilverTips to have a $400 scholarship awarded in memory of a deceased Arvin High School graduate in the May 2010 Senior Awards ceremony. This first scholarship will be awarded in the memory of the late Daryl Bradshaw of the Arvin High School Class of 1971. This is the first year that the SilverTips have done this and we now plan to make giving a scholarship an annual event.
May 2009: The SilverTips Alumni Network donated a check for $500 to the Rocky Handy Memorial Scholarship Endowment Fund at the Arvin High Alumni Association. Having been in existence only seven months at that time, this was our first effort to support existing scholarships at Arvin High School. In the future we will also be initiating scholarships as more alumni get involved and work with us to build support for specific academic disciplines.
